The Free Edition contains almost all features of the Professional Edition; for example:
- Universal HTTP(S) Proxy Recorder: Support for the recording of Web surfing sessions using Any Web Browser, including Internet Explorer, Firefox and Safari - or using any stand-alone Web Service Client Application.
Alternatively, an Integrated Web Crawler allows you to recorded automatically load test scenarios for Web portals. - Easy to Use and Powerful GUI: The recorded data can be post-processed via a powerful and easily understood GUI. After all aspects of the load test have been defined in the GUI, the load test program is automatically created and can be run directly from the GUI. No scripting and no programming knowledge is required in order to use the Proxy Sniffer product.
- You can test the performance of any Web application, and any Web application server such as IIS, SharePoint, Tomcat, JBoss, WebLogic, WebSphere and ColdFusion.
- Integrated Support for HTML forms, HTML hyperlinks, HTML redirects, CGI parameters, Upload and Download of Files, JSON, XML, SOAP and WebDAV: inclusive structured data access via the GUI (extracting and assigning of dynamically exchanged session parameters at runtime).
- Support for Input Files which can used for any purpose during the execution of a load test; for example, for assigning login accounts to HTML forms or to modify the query data of XML requests.
- Automatic Protection from "false positive" Measurement Results without any configuration effort. This feature allows the automatic detection of content errors at the application level (malformed Web pages) - even when a Web page with a correct HTTP response code is returned.
- Realistic Simulation of Web Surfing Sessions. For each simulated user an individual context is created during the load test execution. Together with the automatic support of session cookies Proxy Sniffer offers also to handle dynamically exchanged session parameters efficiently: e.g. hidden HTML form parameter or .NET VIEWSTATE parameter.
- Real-Time Statistics and Real-Time Error Analysis. During a load test, an overview of the measured response times for all Web pages and their URLs is displayed in real-time and the current activity of the simulated users can be observed. Furthermore, all details about occurred errors can be shown and analyzed in real-time, so that error analysis can begin immediately, without having to wait for the end of the load test.
- Detailed Measurement Results and PDF Reports. After the end of each test, there are up to 24 different diagrams and statistics available at various layers. From these results, a complete formatted test report can be created as a PDF document, supplemented with your own comments.
- Support for almost all Operating Systems: The Proxy Sniffer Free Edition can be installed and used easily and quickly on Windows, Linux and Mac OS X.

Additional Option for the Free Edition: Rent Cloud-based Load Generators
The Proxy Sniffer Free Edition allows you to rent on-demand up to 20 pre-installed, cloud-based load generators which can be started in an easy way directly from the Proxy Sniffer GUI, and which are ready for use in less than 3 minutes. This allows you perform large load tests "from the Internet" by simulating up to 20,000 Web users on a pay-as-you-go basis. All cloud-based load generators are automatically combined to form a load-generating cluster.
